The Greater Honeyguide is a species of bird from the savannas of Africa. It has a special relationship with the Honey Badger. The Honeyguide finds a beehive, and then guides the honey badger to it. The honey badger then breaks the beehive open, allowing both the honeyguide and the honey badger to eat the honey within. In order to get the honey badger to follow it, the honeyguide whistles and calls to lead it to the hive. Greater Honeyguides will sometimes even attempt to lead humans to beehives to perform the same task. Many peoples follow the honeyguide to obtain honey, allowing the bird to eat whatever remains.
