"Little Howler" is the 34th episode of the first season of Wild Kratts, originally airing on PBS Kids on October 19, 2011.[2] The episode was written and directed by Martin Kratt.

In this episode, after he and his brother, Chris, run back to the Tortuga exhausted, Martin finds a wolf pup in his backpack. The Kratt brothers recall their adventure in order to find out how the wolf pup ended up in his backpack while they and the rest of the crew devise a way to return it back to its pack.

Plot

The episode begins with a live action segment, which shows the Kratt brothers taking a wolf pup for a stroll in the woods. They also teach it to howl. Afterwards, they ask their "What if?" question and "transform into their animated selves".

The Kratt brothers run back to the Tortuga, exhausted by their recent adventure. As Martin moves his hand around in his backpack, he pulls out a wolf pup which somehow sneaked inside. Martin names it Little Howler. To find out how this happened, Aviva asks them to tell the crew what events they went through.

The flashback starts with the Kratt brothers running through the forest to find wolves. While looking at some wolf tracks, a wolf pack lopes past them. The Kratt brothers run after them, but they easily lose pace. Then a moose, being chased by the same wolf pack, runs towards them. It bumps into Chris and flips him up into the air and onto its antlers, and the tips of it activate his Moose Creature Power Suit. Chris fails to deactivate, so he gallops to a river, avoiding the wolves, where he deactivates by pressing a twig on his Suit's deactivation button. Meanwhile, Martin continues running with the wolves all the way to the den. Martin, very tired, falls asleep. Chris later wakes him up because of a mountain lion. As the wolves defend themselves against the mountain lion, Martin's Creature Pod records the action, and Little Howler unknowingly sneaks into Martin's backpack.

Martin replays his Creature Pod, and finds out that Little Howler did in fact sneak into his backpack while the wolves were defending themselves against the mountain lion. Later, Jimmy takes the Tortuga at a reasonable distance from the wolf den. Aviva tosses the Kratt brothers Wolf Discs, and they run off with Little Howler. At the den, they find that the wolf pack has left, but the mountain lion is still there. To safely get away, the Kratt brothers activate Wolf Powers and run away. A raven then leads them to the current wolf den. Fortunately for them, the wolves smell and accept them as members. Martin sets Little Howler down, and is reunited with his pack.

The show transitions into the ending live action segment. The Kratt brothers run around with the same wolf pup from the beginning live action sequence, which is now three-months old. Afterwards, they conclude the episode by saying "Keep on creature adventuring; we'll see you on the creature trail!"
