The North American River Otter is a species of mustelid from the forests and rivers of North America. They are very playful creatures, often sliding on their bellies down icy slopes into water just for the fun of it. They are extremely social animals, living in groups of up to 17 otters. They are skilled swimmers, allowing them to easily hunt for their preferred prey, fish.
